Assisting Muebah/Ebonemin people of Nninong clan to have clean drinking water

Water, water every where but not enough or clean enough to drink. This issue has been what the Muebah/Ebonemin people of Nninong clan in Kupe Muaneguba has been facing since 1997 when they constructed pipe born water. In rehabilitation of the water supply scheme, the community is in need of assistance.

Faced up with this problem of unclean water for drinking, Bakossi Cultural & Development Association (BACDA-NRW) with its programme on sustainable livelihood development assistance, came in to help the Muebah community with the sum of  500,000 frs CFA to enable them get a filter for clean drinkable water.

Visiting the catchments (in-take) on the 20th May 2011, with Muebah elites from all over Cameroon, and the various sedimentation storage tanks, it was seen that there is a need to help this community out in order for them to have clean water fit for drinking. Because of no filtrations, water flowing down to the tapes is not good for drinking. During the rains, water flowing out of the tapes is muddy, as indicated by the technician, Nkwelle Sube and the chief, Ekwenongene Alexis

Posing beside one of the storage tanks with some elites

After a four hour walk from the village to the catchments’ area, some four kilometres away, the elites, councillors, King Makers and the villagers all settled down for talks. The meeting began by prayers from the resident Pastor, who called on the Lord God to bless us all and thank Him for making it possible that the long awaited guest made it to Muebah and also thank God for bringing together the whole village.

After the prayer, the Chief gave a word of thanks to the elites and the King Makers and also thanking their BACDA-NRW Germany representative for making it possible to be with them. He went further by calling unity among BACDA-NRW and that we portray a better image of the Bakossi people abroad. That we should be acting as the ambassadors of the people, Bakossi.

The president, Mr. Ekwelle Emmanuel Makoge, during his speech, thank BACDA – NRW Germany, for their concern towards their community and the Bakossi land in general. He called on God to continue his good work by helping BACDA-NRW grow from strength to strength.
